An Unbeatable Team:  Irene and Barry

Team Players:

Irene and Barry Berland have been a team for 33 years in both marriage and business.

Barry a decorated Vietnam Veteran, met Irene on the slopes on Hunter Mountain, N.Y. where he was working weekends as a ski instructor.  While giving Irene a lesson, they discovered that they were in the same field; he was a manufactures representative and Irene a divisional merchandise manager of women’s sportswear for a major NY Department store. Loved blossomed and they soon realized that with the similar backgrounds in the apparel industry and their complimentary values, they were destined to join forces in marriage and business.

1^st Half

For 15 years Irene and Barry worked with Mexx International clothing company.  Barry became regional vice president of the Southeast Region for women’s and children’s sportswear while Irene headed up the key account division for the Southeast United States.  They worked hard in the business, dealing with all aspects of sales, marketing and contract negotiations.  Together they became a regional force and achieved success in both their business and marriage.

2^nd Half

Although the job as regional VP was lucrative, Barry recognized that his children were getting older and he was missing too much while he was on the road.  He and Irene decided to build their own business which would enable them to spend more time with their son Todd and daughter Marissa.  So, they started a local vending business. Again Barry and Irene worked hard as a team.   Their children and business grew.  Todd became a vascular surgeon at the Mayo Clinic and Marissa became a NYC real estate broker.  The vending business became an interstate amusement company.    Barry & Irene had won financial security and personal satisfaction when a national company persuaded them to sell them their thriving business.

Irene and Barry decided that the game wasn’t over.  They still wanted to work as a team and give back in some way for their good fortune.  Helping people find their dream houses and saving them money when selling was the answer since they owned income properties in New York, Georgia and Florida . Both Barry and Irene work hard and communicate as a team.  They are detailed oriented, know how to negotiate and get the job done. Everything that has made them successful in business, marriage and parenthood is key to their success in real estate.  Barry says; “Were as good as the best and better then the rest”
